Description
Quite a bit of testing went into the updated PMA Barrel Vise. From the metal finishing on the aluminum to maximize grip and minimize marks left on the barrel to the ability to handle barrels from .750" to 1.500"+ this barrel vise is based on the fantastic original Viper barrel vise, with a few added features we wanted.
Vise is shipped in position to handle barrels 1" - 1.500"+. To use the vise for barrels under 1" remove the top and rotate it 90 degrees.
PMA Recommends applying grease to the stud threads prior to use and torquing barrel vise nuts to 40 ft-lbs.

PMA Gen II Barrel Vise
The vise worked like a charm. I tried using my bench mounted gun vice could not get enough grip on barrel kept turning in vice. I used the Gen II and had the barrel off my Axis in 10 min. Then installed a varmint weight barrel the vice accommodates the heavy barrel with no problems. Highly recommend removing barrels. The shipping was also very fast.

Well-built and super solid
Able to take a handful of barrels off with it quickly and easily. Even used to take off a pesky, Loctited muzzle brake.

PMA GEN II BARREL VISE
Item worked well and offered the flexibility for different size barrels. I still used leather strips between the barrel and metal jaws. I gave it 4 stars because I don't have a comparison vise. But this worked very well for me on a savage model 12.. I used it in a big standard vise versus bolting it to a table, just used bolts and metal to catch under the bottom jaws.

PMA Gen II Vise
My vise came with a different logo than the one pictured, but otherwise identical. It's worked so far as described.

Barrel vise
Very very nice vise. The springs are a great idea. Deliver was fast. Definitely worth the money. Used the vise to remove the barrel on a t3x action that came from a tac A1.

Gen II Barrel Vise
I bought the gen. II over original. Have not used the original, but gen II worked on .650 barrel and has capability for the large diameter 1.5 or greater? No slipping at all. Only used on 2 barrels for brake removal so far. One had rockset other was factory torqued to what seemed like 90 lb. ft. or better, just what I read not sure of that spec. I can say for sure without this tool I may not have had such an easy time of it. I also have a 20 ton. press I've used with wood blocks, also effective but this stores away and could travel if need be. Thanks for fast shipping too.
