Description
The rear bag is a very important factor in shooting consistently small groups. We've had a lot of rear bags over the years, some good, some bad, and some downright awful. While a lot of how good a rear bag depends on the person filling it, if the rear bag isn't right, it isn't right.
These rear bags from Lenzi are right, and they are beautiful. The Long Range Model is 1/2" shorter with slightly taller ears and much reduced taper to the back of the bag.
Key Features and Dimensions:
- black leather with pure nylon (not Cordura) at stock contact points with blue stitching
- 3/8" flat between medium ears
- special attention paid to keeping construction straight
- reinforced leather outer walls with 3 layers of medium stiff leather preventing swelling
- 8"x6" footprint
- built-in "donut"
- extra heavy base made up of 3 stiff layers of leather
- approx. 15.5lbs filled with heavy sand bottom/white sand in ears
- slightly concave base seats flat on bench top when filled and prevents rolling
- great "dead" feel
This bag is more expensive than most, but it does not disappoint!

LENZI STD REAR BAG (10MM SPACING NYLON EARS)
The Lenzi 10mm BR22 (what PMA calls "standard”), part number ALZ-10BR-N, is a perfect match to the angle of the Bruno McMillan stock angle (approximately 7-8°). I followed Pat’s recommendation in ordering the 10mm channel, as in his experience, with the 12mm channel, the stock would likely end up riding all the way down to the stitching between the ears, which in his opinion, is an absolute no-no as it can result in vertical stringing. This is the weight summary, when filled with Bruno’s heavy sand. The ears, per Pat’s recommendation, were filled first. Empty: 1lb 8oz Ears: 2lb 10oz Base: 10lb 8oz Total: 14lb 10oz In addition to the perfect match to Bruno-McMillan stock, the quality and workmanship of the Lenzi rear bag is top shelf. The 2-inch tall and straight sided ears provide a deep channel that will ensure consistent rearward tracking and eliminate, or minimize, side to side rotation. I chose the nylon option, which has a Cordova feel and quality, over the 3M material for durability. I highly recommend the Lenzi bag. I do recommend however, because of the many bag options and channel widths, that you contact PMA prior to ordering to make sure that you get the most compatible and best-fit bag for your rifle. Good Shooting, Ross McCollum
